Healing part 3: We are not our pain. The pain is our purpose

We are not our pain.

In the midst of our struggles, surrounded by indescribable affliction that is yet to be understood by the mind. The heart aches. It longs for healing and understanding, so we can feel free again.

Without understanding the suffering continues.

The anger is palpable, seemingly with nowhere to escape. It consumes the very best of us as the pain intensifies.

How do we heal from this? How do we move on and grow from such experience/s?

People will tell you to “just forget about it” and move forward, as if … the burden does not require recognition. Because unaddressed anguish will fester and be projected – because we are operating in the shadow of who we are.

To own the grief is to make space for healing. For relief cannot be found where denial takes precedence.

We must recognise that pain (the one being inflicted on to us), that is not our identity. It is a hidden message. A refinement process and is the birthplace of hopes and dreams. Inside each and everyone of us, there are weak points that need fortifying. Just like gold. The impurities must go, before we can see our greatest assets.

Without ache, it will simply be buried in fear and doubt. And, that’s where it will remain. Hidden.

The excruciating events are an acknowledgment from the universe that we. We are far stronger and much more resilient than we ever give ourselves credit for.

Things that harm us, was not designed to bury us. But to refine how we see and define that self worth.

Pain uncovers our purpose.

Nothing incredible can be had in comfort. Life is after all, a double edged sword.

The most beautiful things can spring out of such darkness. For when we are forced to look up and seek hope. Without it – we perish.

But that dream. The one that is quietly percolating inside your heart, that also needs refinement, and that is why pain is necessary for growth, so that we are resilient enough to hold the weight of our dreams.

This is why we are not our pain, but the pain reveals our purpose.
