A thought piece: The thing about perspective is …

The thing about perspective is …

When we look at other’s lives, it is like looking through binoculars. We don’t see the whole picture. Only what the eyes allow us to see, what is “seemingly” apparent to the naked eye.

But that is never the complete picture.

You never got to see the struggle that they may be battling  (or previously) battled. You are seeing the present them. The new and updated model of that “person”. The one they choose to curate to the world.

If you saw all the mountains that they had to climb in order to be the person that they have become, would you still want their life?

The slice of “life cake” that seems so tantalising from a distance, from the spectators seat, is not the same as the performer who has to perform that life.

But … The beauty about life is –

We get equal measure of pleasure and pain. How that plays out in our lives, will always look different to different people. It is all in the detail.

Pause. Take a moment to appreciate.

Perspective is: what you make of it.

We can appreciate what we have and try to iron out the change that we want to see in our lives. But nothing is an overnight success. It is all a process.

The life we have is a unique one, it is one to share with the world. The experience we have is no accident and your perspective isn’t either.  For no one will get to live your life, and nor will you get to live someone else’s.

Perception shapes our perspective. Therefore, shapes our happiness.
