An open heart letter: A short prose about love that has weathered the storm

Nothing is more beautiful than love that has weathered the storms of life.

For he/she knows the beauty of love and the preciousness of life. And with earnestness, can take your hands and hold it in theirs.

Don’t take that love you have for granted, for when it is no longer there, you do not want to be left with the question of what?

What went wrong?

Or why? Why didn’t it work out?

Appreciate the bumpy seasons in your relationship. These are the parts that will make the ride stronger. Without the tempest, the partnership has not been forged. It needs to be forged, for when the next gail force comes, you’ll know what to do.

No relationship is going to be easy. Remind yourself of what made you love that person in the first place? Don’t let the heart be darkened by what was? Life is like the ocean. There are highs and there are lows, but at the end of the day, things evens itself out.

Work together. Two hands are always better than one.

Be slow to criticise. Remember that they have feelings too. They also need our love and support. Just because you have been together for quite some time, it does not mean we can be complacent. Love also needs to be maintained and replenished.

Nothing works when it is a one way street.

So if you see a couple who loves each other, they have come out of that storm together, not separately. And have empathy. It will pay dividends.

Oh! And every couple a parrotlet too 🙂
